The concept of a free clinic in Red Wing began in late 2008. A committee comprised of various community stakeholders was established, meeting bi-weekly to discuss the details. Momentum grew in 2009, and by August the grassroots efforts resulted in the establishment of C.A.R.E. Clinic as a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a Board of Directors. Lead staff were hired, volunteers were recruited and trained, and the former Emergency Room of the St. John’s Hospital was converted into our clinic space. Our doors officially opened on January 26, 2010. Since then we have continued to expand our scope of services to include dental care, mental health care, and MNsure navigation services. In August 2014, we reached a major milestone, having served over 2000 unique patients! We continually strive to meet the diverse needs of our patients, while not duplicating services offered elsewhere in the community.
The C.A.R.E. Clinic playroom is a fun and safe place for children to play. Children can enjoy toys, as well as a wide variety of books, and videos. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
